COMMENTS ON THE PHOTO:

The Cat’s Eye Nebula (also known as NGC 6543 and Caldwell 6) is a planetary nebula located in the constellation of the Dragon, about 3,000 light years from us. The Cat’s Eye (NGC 6543) represents a final, brief phase in the life of a sun-like star, and its age is estimated to be around 1,000 years, with the inner nebula about 2,000 years old.

The deep images reveal a halo reaching up to 5 minutes of arc, a halo that was ejected during the evolutionary phase of the red giant.
