COMMENTS ON THE OBJECT :

Observable in the  “hunting dogs” Constellation, M106 lies at a distance of around 23 million light-years, and is the dominant galaxy in a small local group of galaxies (Canes II), some of whose members can be seen in the image shown.

This spiral galaxy is roughly equivalent in size to our neighbor, the Andromeda galaxy, with a diameter of around 130,000 light-years (slightly larger than our own Milky Way).
