COMMENTS ON THE PHOTO:

M83 (NGC 5236) is a relatively close intermediate spiral galaxy in the constellation Hydra, estimated to be 25 million light-years away. It is slightly larger than our own Milky Way (120,000 light-years). It is visible from the front, and its spiral arms are full of detail: red nebulae by emission, clusters of young blue stars, and bands of dust.

It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful galaxies in the southern hemisphere. It was discovered by the French astronomer Nicolas Louis de Lacaille in 1752.
