COMMENTS ON THE PHOTO:
NGC 6914 lies some 6000 light years away in the constellation Cygnus, not far from the star Deneb in the Milky Way. The nebula fragments between the Earth and the young stars appear dark, with varying opacities and complex shapes; in other regions, near the youngest and hottest stars, the dust glows with the bluish colours of reflection nebulae. Finally, nebulae with ionised hydrogen emission give the image a reddish, hot background.
