COMMENTS ON THE OBJECT:
Sharpless 101 (Sh2-101) is an emission nebula in the HII region in the constellation Cygnus. It is also sometimes called the Tulip Nebula because it looks like the outline of a tulip when photographed. It was catalogued by astronomer Stewart Sharpless in his 1959 catalogue of nebulae. It is located at a distance of about 6000 light years from Earth.
